Luck in the Shadows (Nightrunner, Vol. 3, wherein Alec and Seregil have become a comfortably established couple in a sort-of self-exile. To me, “Luck” and “Stalking” were both really good because they were a fine blend of Nightrunning action and also explored conflict and growth between Seregil and Alec. What is particularly lovely about this slim volume is that in a few, relatively brief moments, Flewelling captures the essence of her beloved characters and makes these important, liminal moments in their lives (back before they were the people they are “today”) completely believable. If you are a fan of cutting-edge fantasy and/or are craving a complex depiction of a romantic relationship between two men, begin with Luck in the Shadows, the first Nightrunner novel. 1 Lynn Flewelling grew up in Presque Isle, Maine. Essentially, Alec and Seregil meet and There is some skipped time between vol. IMHO, “Traitor's Moon” is the book that doesn' t fit.
